55 Fiction # 20 ~ Compatible

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "C".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Compatible”.

Holding hand in hand,
Together they walked the aisle,
Proclaiming vows,
They promised to include,
Faults and perfection without a feud,
One thing they found true,
Vibes felt were love that brew,
In while they knew,
Years gone by, once again they vowed,
In her inability to conceive they claimed,
She was (In)Compatible they proclaimed!

~ KARAN

We have come to believe that in this progressive world of ours, gender equality has gained momentum and with women occupying highest positions across verticals and spheres it all hunky dory. However the staunch reality is even today even in educated middle class families, it’s the woman who is blamed for inability to bear the child without even trying to ascertain that it can be a problem with the man. Having said that it is just one amongst many things that the fairer sex still faces in our so called progressive society.

  1. Ah yes, the list of blame a woman must bear are many. Hope this changes in the coming generation - the only way it can is if we teach them differently!

    Cheers!

    1. the mothers certainly play an important role here. As they say teach a man and you teach one person, teach a woman and you teach an entire family.
Rather than teaching girls of what to do, its about time we teach guys what not to do.

  8. Gender inequality remains a major barrier to human development. Girls and women have made major strides since 1990, but they have not yet gained gender equity. The disadvantages facing women and girls are a major source of inequality. All too often, women and girls are discriminated against in health, education, political representation, labour market and RELATIONSHIPS too, with negative repercussions for development of their capabilities and their freedom of choice.

    1. That's correct, but earlier there was no medium leave alone mass medium available to them. But now with social media at their disposal and like minded males standing with them, progressive changes to such things are sure thing in days ahead, atleast that is what I would like to believe.

  9. This absolutely perfect! Some relationships inspite of having everything going for them, fragile ones last inspite all odds, such a weird and beautiful thing.
Also, great that you focused on feminism.

  11. I loved the poetry that you have penned! We talk of gender equality but sadly that only sounds good on book and thesis in this country but harsh reality is something different. Well written.
