5 Takeaways From #PM #Modi's Speech To The #US #Congress

  1. Always touch base with common factors with the host and you will immediately build a lasting connection.
  2. Use humor in your speech no matter how professional the occasion and formal the speech may be.
  3. It’s irrelevant that you have a heavy vernacular accent to your English, it’s your confidence, presentation and eloquence is all that matters not even your vocabulary.
  4. Make discreet use of aphorism to help drive your point through without having to offend anyone.
  5. Most Important - remember time is an essence of a speech and therefore don’t drag your topics to a point that you lose your audience.

  1. One thing true about politicians, their communication skills are better than most people. You might not agree with them, but their charm can make you feel like agreeing.

  2. fantastic Karan! I am compelled to note these down. Something which I plan on using in my own conversations and even blog posts :D The one that connected most with me was ' your confidence, presentation and eloquence is all that matters' :D

glad you liked it, I am not a fan or follower of Modi a PM, CM or the party he belongs to but I love him purely for the way he delivers his speeches and the orator that he is. Simply love it!

To have a written speech scroll in front of you on teleprompter is one thing but to deliver it the way he does is a different ball game all together. You may like or hate him as a person, as a politician but you simply cant avoid his persona when he addresses masses of the common man or the privileged alike.

I always believe that if you are comfortable with the way you speak, you will surely able to make a very good speech.

  4. There is so much to learn from people when you observe them keenly. Agree with Richa about owning your accent, and that common factors point is golden. It is easy to get swayed by the right thing to do in such a situation. I feel we must always do what feels right t us.
