I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016
where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring
Sunday's. Today's word is "B".
My theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today
I chose “Boastful”.
Budding player, putting in hard hours, to
excel at any cost, demeaned at every opportunity, by the coach not fond of her.
Neither you possess forehand of Supriya nor backhand
like Taniya. Sharapovas and Williams of the academy, the ones you should boast of,
shouldn’t you?
Thyself I am boastful of, pat came her
reply.

Being boastful about one’s own self isn’t always
necessarily being arrogant. Loving yourself even with your shortcomings is the
most important thing in life. As RasheedOgunlaru says “There's no alternative to being yourself. Accept it, honour
it, value it - and get on with it.”
Perfect quote. We are stuck with ourselves, we may as well get along with us.
ReplyDeletethat's the idea Liz!
DeleteYes, well said.

DeleteWell put Karan. One has to love oneself first before expecting others to even like us. It is certainly not arrogance. Good going..

Deletethat's the way it should be and no matter what one shouldn't doubts one's own-self.
ReplyDeleteSo aptly put: "Being boastful about one’s own self isn’t always necessarily being arrogant"!

DeleteThat was beaaautifully put Karan. Many a times I have seen great achievers speaking openly about how they did it....no way does it sound boastful. It all depends on how it is conveyed...the attitude! Good going!

I agree it surely depends on how it is conveyed, and a little more on how it is taken.
Deletebeing you is what matters, however it is!
ReplyDeleteTina from The Sunny Side of Life
Yes. Some people confuse being selfish with caring for oneself. I've learnt it the hard way, and I could relate with this post :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad you could relate :)
Deletekeeping reflecting.
Being boastful is sometimes you really need and all we need is keep boasting ourselves in a positive way. Great topic i must say :)

There is always a thin line. Just bragging about one's own self isn't good.
ReplyDeletewww.seeya-sk.blogspot.com
there is, but as long as you dont cross it, bragging is in a way necessary.
DeleteWell said Karan.
ReplyDeleteBookmarked👌👌

DeleteNot loving ourselves enough and not standing up for our own selves is often the reason we let others decide our fate and be pushed down harms way.
ReplyDeleteA powerful message there Karan.
