I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z
barring Sunday's. Today's word is "X".
My theme is “Human Characteristics”.
Today I chose “Xenial”.
Leave the doors ajar
Xenial with guests, strangers

Xenial in particular is defined as “friendly
relationship between host and guest”, however here I have used it in a broader
sense with an effort to drive home a point how we are turning recluse. Here in
India we emphasize on Atithi Devo Bhava which in literal
translation in English means 'The guest is equivalent to God' or 'Be one for
whom the guest is God'. However we have long forgone that. Let alone for others but as mentioned in the
teachings in almost all of the holy scriptures across religions which I vaguely
quote here one must atleast for one's own-self greet the guest with open arms:
“Do not neglect to show hospitality to guests
and strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing
it.”
that's an interesting take on Xenial . I agree with you that we have become too obsessive with our sense of space and have there by become recluse.
ReplyDeleteIts also a refreshing thought coming from a young person ..
It would be nice to see more people take this approach .
Thank you so much Chandni for such kind words :)
