I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016
where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring
Sunday's. Today's word is "I".
My theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today I chose “Insouciant”.
Bereaved and saddened
Can’t even cry, has to be
Insouciant Dad

KARAN
The world has always been unfair to the Father.
It’s fair to say that mothers have been our pillar of strength, but our silent
and biggest strength is mostly drawn from fathers. Mothers can at times shed a
tear or two and relieve themselves; however the Fathers on most occasions have
to be nonchalant in their expression just to be source of inspiration to the
others in the family, more so at times of distress.
Such profound words Karan, true that but isn't it something we all as a Society need to change, accept Man/boy who shed tears and accept them as sensitive :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you there Shalini, the perception of the Society is what needs to be changed. The way we look at it is what matters and will help understand things better.
DeleteSo true that is Karan. Silent and strong pillars of support are our Dads! Beautiful thought Karan! Stay blessed :)

thank you so much Kala, couldn't have agreed more :)
DeleteYeah, but that needs to change. Just like women shouldn't be the only ones doing the laundry, men really shouldn't repress their emotions. At least that is what I believe - it's high time we break gender stereotypes.
ReplyDeleteCheers!

Yes father is a superman.
ReplyDeletePapa makes everyone happy and during and time he smiles fairly and can never cry...
Can relate to it.

That's true Karan. We must think of the Dads too. They too feel the same sorrow, joy or anger as the others in the family. Thanks for reminding everyone about it.

Wise! True a man has to be calm and composed during the moment of crisis and distress because he is seen as a support structure to the entire family! He drives the family!
ReplyDeleteI- Wasting time with an Idiot
Rightly said, fathers are our pillars of strength but I believe, they need not be burdened by the stereotype that "men can't cry". It's time to let our fathers be free to express their emotions like our mothers do.
ReplyDeleteA profound take on letter 'I'.
Keep 'em coming Karan!

Human characteristics is an interesting theme.
ReplyDeleteI thought of an old man's tears when I read your blog. My father never cried until he got much older. And that at my sister having been diagnosed a devastating disease. I think one reason men do not cry is that when you are caring for people, you have to keep your mind on them and not your feelings.
ReplyDeleteComplex topic. Interesting that you write. So many writers were lawyers. I guess you guys get to see the lay of the land when it comes to their fellow man.
