To tribute my Mother who I fondly call #Maa even using all
alphabets in all probable attributable words would not be enough and certainly
not enough is a day. So I do it in my small way. We always get interested in
celebrating things on a larger scale and in grand style. But what we forget is
life is celebrated the most in mundane and smaller things that we do and
appreciate in the simplest way.

Love
I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016
where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring
Sunday's. Today's word is "L".
My theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today I chose “Love”.
Love has compassion
Love is kind
If you speak human and boast of an beatific
tongue,
But don’t have love,
Your words will always be wrong,
You would have nothing left in the trove,
Love has passion
Love isn’t blind
If your hearts beating a patriotic song,
But you don’t have love
It’s just resonating empty gong
Love is angelic
Love has hope
Loves has belief
Love helps cope
If you seek worldly bliss,
Possess all the strength and means,
Without love it is all in vain,
At cessation, there will be no gain.
~
KARAN
We keep running behind materialistic things
and forget about people who need us and vice-versa. In our quest of worldly
pleasure we forget to simple things in life which bring happiness and the
biggest of all is to have love in our life without which there is absolutely
nothing of gain that we will take to our tomb.

Kiddish
I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016
where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring
Sunday's. Today's word is "K".
My theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today I chose “Kiddish”.
I wanted to be there,
But when? I would always wonder,
Was greeted with a blank stare,
When I finally met her,
Her hands were warm,
But in the deep brown eyes,
Her sorrow swam,
Her voice had gone squeaky,
But she hadn’t lost hope,
She had turned sneaky,
There wasn’t any scope,
That was their notion,
She was kiddish is what they thought,
And sent her here to rot!
~
KARAN
In this day and age there are more grandparents
at old-age homes than at our homes, which sadly is a true fact. We fail to
understand a simple fact that an old person is equivalent to a growing up kid
and needs to be dealt with equal care, love and compassion. However on the
contrary this is the very behavior that we cringe about and get irritated with.
It’s time we introspect before life shows us a mirror.

Humorous
I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016
where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring
Sunday's. Today's word is "H".
My
theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today
I chose “Humorous”.
When I am down and dry,
I laugh not cry,
When my accounts dwindle,
I laugh and rekindle,
When I struggle for words to say,
I laugh unable to sway,
When I give it my best,
And still fail,
I laugh with a quest,
In humor I hail.
~
KARAN
Here I would want to simply impress upon the words of the
biggest comedian of all times:
"To truly laugh, you must be
able to take your pain, and play with it." ~ Charlie Chaplin.

55 Fiction # 28 ~ Fearful
I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016
where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring
Sunday's. Today's word is "F".
Failure is meant to be,
Failure is for real,
Far away from success I may be,
But I have no fear,
Falling over and over again,
I will get up with a gain,
With strength to steer,
My instinct stands clear,
Stopping me in my stride, I don’t see,
Failure would not bother me!
~
KARAN
Failure is the first and biggest impediment
to any initiative that you want to succeed in. On the contrary we should make
it as a stepping stone to success by taking it in our stride and incorporating
the learning’s in urge to succeed.

55 Fiction # 21 ~ Daring
I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016
where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring
Sunday's. Today's word is "D".
My theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today
I chose “Daring”.
Don’t dream for Moon,
It isn’t yours,
you ain’t rich,
You don’t have boon
I have talent and wit,
Dare to dream I am fit,
Will prove it,
If not moon, will have the stars,
It’s only for the rich, is just a farce,
All I need is intent and opportunity,
Neither fortune nor pity.
~
KARAN
From the Polyester Prince to the Missile
Man of India to the famous King of Bollywood to the Superstar down South and
numerous more have one thing in common that they have proved to the world - “Dare
to Dream and Care to Achieve”. They have shown the world that it’s never really
the lack resources or fortune but the lack of intent and clarity in purpose
that hinders one from achieving their dreams.

55 Fiction # 20 ~ Compatible
I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016
where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring
Sunday's. Today's word is "C".
My theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today
I chose “Compatible”.
Holding hand in hand,
Together they walked the aisle,
Proclaiming vows,
They promised to include,
Faults and perfection without a feud,
One thing they found true,
Vibes felt were love that brew,
In while they knew,
Years gone by, once again they vowed,
In her inability to conceive they claimed,
She was (In)Compatible they proclaimed!
~
KARAN
We have come to believe that in this
progressive world of ours, gender equality has gained momentum and with women occupying
highest positions across verticals and spheres it all hunky dory. However the staunch
reality is even today even in educated middle class families, it’s the woman
who is blamed for inability to bear the child without even trying to ascertain that
it can be a problem with the man. Having said that it is just one amongst many things
that the fairer sex still faces in our so called progressive society.

MY NAMESAKE FOR GOD
Fifteenth day of this year’s National Poetry Writing Month. Today’s optional prompt for today is to write a poem that
is a little something I’m calling “Twenty Questions.” The idea is to write a
poem in which every sentence, except for the last one, is in the form of a
question. That’s it! It can be as long or short as you like. The questions can
be deep and philosophical (‘what is the meaning of life?’) or routine and
practical (‘are you going to eat that?’). Or both!

Monarch Mind's Worth
Fourteenth day of this year’s National Poetry Writing Month. Today’s optional prompt for today is to write a poem that
contains at least one kenning.
Kennings were metaphorical phrases developed in Nordic sagas. At their
simplest, they generally consist of two nouns joined together, which
imaginatively describe or name a third thing. The phrase “whale road,” for
example, could be used instead of “sea” or “ocean,” and “sky candle” could be
used for “sun.” The kennings used in Nordic sagas eventually got so complex
that you basically needed a decoder-ring to figure them out. And Vikings being
Vikings, there tended to be an awful lot of kennings
for swords, warriors, ships, and gold. But at their best, they are surprising
and evocative.

Love & Happiness
Thirteenth day of this year’s National Poetry Writing Month. Today’s (optional) prompt is a “replacement” poem. Pick a
common noun for a physical thing, for example, “desk” or “hat” or “bear,” and
then pick one for something intangible, like “love” or “memories” or
“aspiration.” Then Google your tangible noun, and find some sentences using it.
Now, replace that tangible noun in those sentences with your intangible noun,
and use those sentences to create (or inspire) a poem.

Kabinet Jeroboam
Twelfth day of this year’s National Poetry Writing Month. Today’s’ prompt (optional, as always). Poets have been writing
about love and wine, wine and love, since . . . well, since the time of Anacreon, a Greek poet who
was rather partial to that subject matter. Anacreon developed a particular
meter for his tipsy, lovey-dovey verse, but Anacreontics in English generally
do away with meter-based constraints. Anacreontics might be described as a sort
of high-falutin’ drinking song. So today I challenge you to write about
wine-and-love. Of course, you may have no love of wine yourself, in which case
you might try an anti-Anacreontic poem.

Jingle
Eleventh day of this year’s National Poetry Writing Month. Today’s prompt for today should be a little simpler. (As always,
the prompts are optional). Once upon a time, poetry was regularly used in
advertisements, most notably the Burma-Shave ads:

Heartbeat - You Are My Guding Light
Ninth day of this year’s National Poetry Writing Month. Today’s prompt is let’s rewrite a famous poem, giving it our own
spin. While any famous poem will do, if you haven’t already got one in mind,
why not try your own version of Cesar Vallejo’s Black Stone Lying on
a White Stone? If you’re not exactly sure how such a poem could be
“re-written,” check out this
recent poem by Stephen Burt, which riffs on Vallejo’s.

Inanimate Love
Eight day of this year’s National Poetry Writing Month. Today’s prompt is to write a love poem . . . but the object of
the poem should be inanimate. You can write a love poem to your favorite pen,
the teddy bear you had as a child (and maybe still have), or anything else, so
long as it’s not alive!

Grey ,Crimson & Blue
Seventh
day of this year’s National Poetry Writing
Month. Today's’ prompt is Take a good look outside your
window. Spend a minute or so jotting down all the nouns you see outside. Tree.
Car. Bus. Dog. Then spend a minute or so writing down all the colors you see.
Finally, think about taking place outside. Is the wind blowing? “Blow.” Is
someone walking their dog? “Walk.” Spend a minute or so writing down these
verbs. Now you've got a whole list of words from which to build
a poem, mixing and matching as you go. Happy writing!
